José Tolosa is a senior media and entertainment executive with over two decades of experience building, transforming, and advising global businesses at the intersection of creativity, culture, and commerce. He is the Founder and Principal of Metaxis Group, through which he provides strategic advisory and investment services across media and entertainment. He also serves as Senior Global Advisor at AlixPartners.

Most recently, José served as CEO of Meow Wolf (2022–2025), where he led the company’s evolution from an immersive arts collective into a multidimensional storytelling and IP platform. Under his leadership, Meow Wolf expanded into major new markets, achieved B-Corp recertification — the first and only certified B Corp in themed entertainment — and was named one of Fast Company’s World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2024.

Prior to Meow Wolf, José spent over a decade at Viacom and ViacomCBS (Paramount Global). As EVP and Chief Transformation Officer, he led the integration of both companies and drove transformation programs delivering over $1 billion in synergies. As COO of Viacom International Media Networks, he oversaw operations across 180+ countries. Earlier in his career he co-founded and served as COO of HNMA Funding Company, and held roles at The Parthenon Group, Bear Stearns, and Claxson Interactive Group.

A native of Puerto Rico, José serves on the Advisory Board of Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and as Vice President of the Board of Ballet Hispánico. He holds an MBA with Honors from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance & Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Georgetown University.
